When director Shrikaran first approached me for the grade on KALA, the brief was simple but the ask ran deep: make the color feel like the ache in the song itself. What followed was a full color pass built around that one instruction! A warm, intimate palette that let the romance breathe without ever losing honesty in the skin tones. Golden hour and blue-hour contrast do the emotional heavy lifting here: soft highlight rolloff for tenderness, deep amber shadows for longing, and a tonal thread that carries the story from the first frame to the last. The result is a video where color isn't decoration ! It's a second voice, telling the same love story the lyrics do.
